The Gobelins Collection,
"How rugs are meant to be"

Gobelins was the official state-run tapestry of the French Crown, founded by two Flemish weavers, Louis Hinart and Philippe Behagle in 1602 in Beauvais, northern France. Gobelins was the leading supplier of the nobility and bourgeoisie, as well as the leading exporter from 1602 until the start of the French Revolution in 1789. From the 18th century until today, Gobelin flat weave area rugs are considered contemporary masterpieces underfoot, with endless variations of vivacious colors, enchanting designs, and unique looks. The design world’s renewed interest in flatweave rugs over the past decade is a true testament to their beauty, versatility, durability, and ease of care.
