Gobelins was the official state-run tapestry of the French Crown, founded by two Flemish weavers, Louis Hinart and Philippe Behagle in 1602 in Beauvais, northern France. Gobelins was the leading supplier of the nobility and bourgeoisie, as well as the leading exporter from 1602 until the start of the French Revolution in 1789.
